Our flea market debut was fun. We sold some cds, gave out lots of flyers, and talked to many people about our cds! We sold some handmade notebooks from our sister store, The Hamster & The Guppies too! The most exciting thing was selling out all our available copies of Tiny Microphone – Home! Our next flea market gig will be on 20th August 2011, at the same busy venue – outside Gong Cha (yummy earl grey milk tea!) at S*cape. 

This is a lot harder than twee, but don’t forget that this distro’s focus is also on girl pop. Meaning girl vocals obsession! And any band that covers The Tammy’s Egyptian Shumba is fantastic in my books!

Do I have enough titles for a start? What if no one buys anything? How often should I do my flea markets? 

At the moment the shop looks embarrassingly scanty. I’m restraining myself from buying anymore titles until the flea market on 25th June at least. So many beautiful sounds, so little money!

If you love lo-fi girl pop as much as I do, then you’ll fall in love with Tiny Microphone! This is the side project of the very talented Kristine Capua, of the band Very Truly Yours! Think Tennis, Best Coast, Seapony.. you get the idea!

Tiny Microphone is Kristine Capua of Chicago indiepop band Very Truly Yours. She bought her first four track recorder in 2001, and has recorded solo material under Tiny Microphone ever since. Kristine has a love for reverb and distortion, which isn’t seen much in Very Truly Yours, but is prominent in her solo project. She then compliments the sonic layers with delicate, airy harmonies. “Home” is a compilation of harmonies and noise that tells a story about learning how to fall out of love, when to give up, how to know you’re in the right place: home. “Home” is also a collection of songs that she started recording in 2006. They first appeared on Best Kept Secret in cassette format in 2008. Happy prince releases CD edition first ever worldwide. All tracks remastered by Corey Fuller.
